Compensation and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $4,691 - $6,683 per month

Full classification Salary Range: $4,691 - $6,683 per month
  • This is a full-time, probationary, exempt position.


The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 14 paid holidays a year. Job Summary

Under the direction of the Director of the Learning Center, the Tutoring Coordinator is responsible for strategically planning, implementing and evaluating tutoring services across the Fresno State campus. The Tutoring Coordinator will work directly with the Director to assess student academic support needs and make recommendations to effectively address identified needs. This position will lead program development efforts with the intent of increasing student awareness, utilization and academic impact.

Key Qualifications

  • Ability to recruit, hire, train, schedule, supervise, develop, and evaluate undergraduate and graduate student assistants

  • Ability to analyze trends, theories and high impact practices of student retention and learning

  • Ability to develop ongoing student staff training content advancing service quality, utilization and impact

  • Ability to collaborate with and outreach to academic departments and student service programs

  • Ability to collect, compile, analyze and evaluate data and make verbal and written presentations based on the data

  • Ability to utilize appropriate technology, including Excel, Canvas, Access, Tableau, Qualtrics, Bulldog Connect, social media platforms, Adobe Creative Software, and PeopleSoft

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university in a job-related field
  • A Master's degree in counseling, psychology, social work or higher education is preferred

  • Equivalent of three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience, preferably related to academic support services in higher education

  • A Master's degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience

  • Proficient in the use of office automation, such as Word, Excel, and email and internet

Within the Division of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management (DOSAEM), the Learning Center serves as the centralized hub of academic support services for the Fresno State campus community. This thriving department holds space for meaningful engagement, rapport building and encouraging students to grow intellectually as critical thinkers. The Learning Center advances student success by actively using effective learning strategies to improve content understanding and course grades. The associated uniquely structured programs, Tutoring, Supplemental Instruction (SI) and SupportNet, work together to boldly integrate the culture and values of each student to inspire a community of life-long learners.
