Position Summary:
MSU Denver Peer Mentors are an important part of the student experience at MSU Denver. Peer Mentors serve as a support network for MSU Denver students and seek to provide peer coaching, support in career development, and create opportunities to further connect those students with the MSU Denver community and the resources it has to offer. Peer Mentor team members are enthusiastic, flexible, self-motivated, team players, and are of course, proud to be a Roadrunner!

Duties/Responsibilities:
Caseload Management
Serve as a resource to MSU Denver students
Connect with students individually and in groups to help them build campus connections.
Outreach to a caseload of students via email, phone, and in-person.
Intentionally provide information and resources to encourage career development
Regularly track all student interactions.
Address all MSU Denver students questions and concerns
Ensure resources shared reflect interests and needs of diverse identities

Event Participation
Prepare supplies, set-up in office and around campus, engage with students, run programming, clean-up, and put away supplies
Promote events to students on campus through marketing initiatives and by inviting caseloads to attend events
Support and participate in Campus-wide Events and programs, with 25% being programs that center on equity, inclusion and/or anti-racism

Focus Area Support
Follow leadership and direction of Lead Peer Mentors in the focus areas for: Events, Outreach, Community Service, Social Media, and Career Development
Assist Lead Peer Mentors in the planning and assessment of Peer Mentoring events and activities.

Faculty and Advisor Support
Establish and maintain positive relationships with students, supplemental instructors, industry navigators, advisors, faculty, and staff.
Attend classes to distribute information about upcoming events, deadlines, and opportunities for the MSU Denver community.

Professional Growth
Attend bi-weekly meetings to learn more about campus resources, share information, and receive professional development
Attend training weeks each semester to create stronger bonds with co-workers, learn more about campus resources and job responsibilities.
Meet monthly and check-in regularly with supervisors to set and work on individual goals

General Duties
Provide excellent customer service by ensuring the front desk is covered, greeting students and guests, and answering the phone
Maintain a positive work environment through friendliness to co-workers and guests, seasonal decorations, and cleanliness.
Utilize C2 Hub resources, services and programs to better understand overall department
Other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications:
MSU Denver student taking at least 6 credits per semester
Commitment to supporting a diverse student population in the exploration and career development process.
