Job Description

Position Summary

The Facilitator for Mentoring and Service position exists to plan and deliver informational sessions, provide customer service, and give general support to the Nevada Promise Scholarship program. The support offered by the facilitators aims to ensure that the group's objectives and scholarship requirements are met effectively. The Facilitator will work with current high school students, college students, their families, and community mentors to meet the objectives of programs at CSN that fall within the scope of the Office of Mentoring and Service.

  • Drafting, preparing and conducting Nevada Promise informational sessions and workshops aimed to transition students from high school to college. The sessions take place year-round and include evening and weekend events. Multiple sessions and workshops may be available in one day in virtual or in person modalities.
  • Research on topics related to Mentoring and Service programs. Topics include effective study habits, interpersonal skills; financial literacy, and professional development that encourage college retention, completion, and career readiness. The workshops are available in-person at locations on and off campus, and virtually using preferred software for the mentoring program.
  • Develop and conduct seminars and workshops for community mentors highlighting best practices and strategies for mentoring. Encouraging the use of current CSN student support services, availability of workshops on effective organization and time management skills, and personal finances to persist and complete their college degrees.
  • Ability to work in a "peer reviewed" collaborative environment.
  • Collect pre-and post-event satisfaction surveys from participants for program evaluation purposes. Use survey findings to improve the educational experience.
  • Support with various logistic related tasks in preparation for, during, and post mentoring events and workshops.
  • Clerical support as needed, including but not limited to, customer service-related tasks.
  • Support office with other tasks as assigned by the Manager.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize between projects.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an exciting and rapidly evolving environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills


Required Qualifications
  • A college degree or in the process of completing a college degree.
  • Excellent written and public speaking skills.
  • Flexible schedule and reliable transportation are a must.
  • Experience working with a diverse student and employee population including all identities, ethnicities, cultures, and national origins.


Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ years of relevant experience in customer service or educational setting
  • Ability to engage with diverse audiences in an inclusive teaching environment.
  • Currently enrolled at CSN and in good academic standing as per SAP policy
  • Ability to engage with diverse audiences in an inclusive teaching environment.
  • Work availability early in the morning, late hours and weekends a plus!
