Job Description

The Mentoring Services Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of mentor and service programs, including Promise. The Manager oversees and conducts all activities for the day-to-day execution of Promise and other mentor/service-related programs at CSN. Mentoring and service programs create a sense of belonging, engage students with their community, benefit their personal and educational growth, and serve to provide a structure for academic success, especially for first-generation students. These programs create a direct link between CSN students and our business, non-profit, and government communities and impact economic development.

The Manager plays a key role in the successful implementation of the Promise Program, which requires compliance with a legislative mandate and directly impacts student access, enrollment, and success; as well as CSN's connections with educational partners, such as CCSD, and the community at large.

The ideal candidate should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • In-depth knowledge of Promise Program legislative and institutional requirements and parameters
  • CCSD/K-12 regulations and procedures impacting mentoring and service programs, including Promise
  • Knowledge of K-12 structure and programs, FERPA rules governing privacy
  • Knowledge of NSHE and community college policies and procedures, Core curriculum of university
  • Knowledge of Barriers faced by underrepresented college students; follow-up processes; and the greater Las Vegas community.
  • Skills in conception, management, planning, organizing, and execution of events, workshops, and program
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal communication, and human relations skills
  • Proficiency in the use of a personal computer and current software applications including, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently; work in a team; establish and maintain relationships with faculty and campus staff; organize, lead and conduct meetings; solve problems; derive strategies and action items from complex verbal and written information
  • Ability to effectively handle conflict and dissent; conduct workshops; research, identify and implement best practices of mentoring, service, equity and inclusion; write reports; handle budgets
  • Ability to interpret and implement college policies and procedures; maintain confidentiality of information
  • Ability to work with a diverse student and employee population including all identities, ethnicities, cultures, and national origins
  • Ability to manage, prioritize, and complete multiple projects/tasks in an efficient and timely manner while maintaining focus on organizational goals.
  • Ability to coordinate complex program activities with internal and external stakeholders.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's from an accredited college or university or in a related field of study from a regionally accredited College or University in a related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4-5 years of experience in higher education or a related area


Preferred Qualifications
  • 7 years or more experience in higher education or related a related area


Starting Salary Range

Administrative Faculty D

$72,864 - $77,964*

*This position is funded by grant dollars and is contingent upon ongoing and available funding.
