Direct the program assessment efforts of ACE team, programs, and services. Provides leadership and direction for the student development and learning programs within ASUA. Direct oversight of development, planning, execution, and evaluation of leadership and Academic Support Programs including; Supplemental Instruction, Tutoring, Math Coaching, Academic Testing, The Writing Centers, and The Student Success Studio at PDC.

Major duties and responsibilities

Staff supervision:
  • The ACE staff members will report to the director who is responsible for the productive and harmonious operation of the diverse functions of the department. Supervision includes staff meetings, providing on-going coaching, formal or informal evaluations, staff development plans, program reviews, and being available for individual consultations.
  • ACE staff currently include the coordinators for the Writing Centers, SI, and Tutoring; Info Tech Consultant, Academic Testing Center, and The Student Success Studio at PDC.

Program Evaluation and Development:
  • Manage and Lead the department program review and evaluation process, including the use of Navigate and dashboards, developing program, paraprofessional and student learning outcomes, assessing program effectiveness, and making recommended changes to enhance program success.
  • Based on program evaluation and best practices, implement enhances to programs, including staff/program certifications, tailoring programs to meet CSUSB student needs, developing new services, and building on successful service to assist with our GI 2025 goals.

Student Support:
  • Assist with Student para-professional (student assistants, ISAs, etc.) recruitment, hiring, training, development, and evaluation.
  • Developing an integrated onboarding process for student workers that coordinates with other UGS departments.

Budget Oversight:
  • In consultation with the department, AVP, and analyst, develop, manage, and monitor an integrated ACE budget that will include baseline, SSI, and additional grant funds.
  • May be asked to participate in advancement services to develop independent funding for ACE services.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5-8 years of professional and supervisory experience.

Required Qualifications
  • Ability to effectively supervise professional and student staff.
  • Ability to solve difficult and sensitive problems involving individuals and groups of students.
  • Ability to evaluate, analyze and recommend organizational policy changes throughout the university.
  • Must have a high degree of tact and persuasiveness in resolving conflicting issues/positions involving students and faculty.
  • Ability to independently plan, organize, and evaluate work requirements and priorities, and select optimal methodologies and alternatives to handle normal and unusual situations.
  • Must be able to make decisions that may establish precedents and guidelines for future situations.
  • Must have excellent listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Must have excellent computer software knowledge of word processing spreadsheets and data management programs.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding and following the course catalog.
  • Knowledge of student success, student employment, and peer-led student initiatives.
  • Student advising and staff development.

Compensation and Benefits:

Anticipated Hiring Range: $7300 - $7500 per month

Classification Salary Range: $4,583 - $14713 per month

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 14 paid holidays a year. Position Information:

Work status: Full-time/Exempt/At-will

Schedule Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm. Evenings and weekends as needed.

This is a full-time management (MPP) position. MPP employees serve at the pleasure of the campus President. MPPs do not serve a probationary period and never receive permanent status.

This position will remain open until filled. Applications will be reviewed beginning April 18, 2023.
