Title: Manager of Peer Mentoring (Grand Funded)

POSITION SUMMARY

Oversees and manages the College's Peer Mentoring Program

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Implements and manages the Peer Mentoring Program across all campuses. Serves as institutional liaison/point-of-contact with Tennessee Board of Regents Director of Advisement and First Year Initiatives. Collaborates with institutional student success stakeholders (academic divisions, extended campuses, student affairs departments, the library and learning center, office of institutional research, new student orientations, first year experience courses, etc.) to establish and sustain a coordinated, cohesive, and effective peer mentoring model. Ensures complete and appropriate expenditures of all grant funds, reporting, closing, finalizing, or transitioning all grant activities at the close of the grant. Adheres to the approved guidelines of the Relational Advising and Peer Mentoring grant awarded by the Tennessee Board of Regents. Administers faculty, staff, and student surveys and examines institutional data to assess effectiveness of peer mentoring and to inform practice. Supervises peer mentors. Establishes and monitors tracking of peer mentor/mentee interactions. Establishes and evaluates student learning outcomes for peer mentors. Participates in recruiting and enrollment activities and events. Teaches at least one NSCC 1010 First Year Experience Course. Plans and supports Student Life Programming. Assists in the strategic planning and development of a comprehensive college advising model. Recommends strategies and structures to improve student success to the Associate Vice President of Student Affairs. Maintains an understanding of current ideas, research and practices pertaining to the areas of responsibility for this position, through continued study and participation in professional organizations. Performs other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in counseling, student affairs, higher education or related field
Two years' supervisory or leadership experience
Two years' experience advising in a higher education setting

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in counseling, student affairs, higher education or related field

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to effectively communicate ideas and information in written and oral format to administrative staff, professional colleagues and governing boards.
Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with college faculty, staff, and administrators.
Knowledge of basic principles of relational advisement and student development.
Exceptional communication and listening skills, interpersonal skills, diplomacy and the ability to effectively interact with a diverse population and build trusted relationships.
Basic computer skills.

Pay Rate: $51,000
